Your practice shouldn't need you in every seat and every decision.
Right now, nothing moves until you weigh in. We change that.
We activate your leaders and set the operating rhythms that make it possible for you to delegate, so you can lead the practice instead of holding it together.
The practice grew faster than anyone's training in how to lead it.
When owners say yes to working with us, it's usually relief: someone is finally going to help carry what they've been carrying alone.
We work with owners at two common stages
You've hired your first leaders, but everything still runs through you.
Your leaders are often new to leading. We help them step up, and help you decide what to hand off, to whom, and how to let go without things falling apart.
You have a leadership team, but good ideas stall before they become results.
We bring the cross-functional rhythm, ownership and follow-through that turn plans into progress, and help your CEO or owner stop being the tiebreaker on everything.
Our clients are practitioners who built successful behavioral health, dental and chiropractic clinics, med spas and other professional practices. You built something that works. We help you lead what comes next.
Every engagement ends with your team owning the work.
We aren't here to become the new bottleneck. Every engagement follows the same four steps.
- Learn and assessA six-week Roadmap to see how your practice really runs.
- InstallPut the structure, meeting rhythms and priorities in place.
- Lead and refineRun the leadership rhythm, coach your leaders and drive priorities, reviewed each quarter.
- Step backKeep a senior partner in your corner through Advisory, or hand off fully once your team runs it.
Start with the Roadmap. Go as deep as you need.
Every option below does the same four things: activates and enables your leaders, installs cross-functional operating rhythms, teaches practical communication tactics, and helps you delegate. They differ in how much of the work we carry alongside you.
“Fractional” means a senior leader on your team part time, for a fraction of the cost of a full-time executive.
The Roadmap
Before we change anything, we learn how your practice actually runs. You leave with a clear plan, whether or not you keep working with us.
- Your ideal Accountability Chart: who owns what, with the right people in the right seats
- A key metrics dashboard, with an owner for each number
- A 1-year vision and 3 to 5 year goals
- A 12-month financial forecast based on real capacity and growth targets
- A focused 90-day priority plan
- A rollout plan for putting it all in place with your team
- Our recommendation for which role and level of support fits
If you continue, fractional leadership starts the week the Roadmap ends. Not sure we're a fit yet? The Roadmap stands on its own.
Then choose your fractional leader: Chief of Staff / Integrator, or COO
Both roles include
- Weekly leadership meeting facilitation
- A quarterly planning day
- Weekly check-ins with you
- Ownership of your leadership dashboard
- Spotting and resolving issues
- 1:1s with your leadership team
- Tools, templates and trainings
Chief of Staff / Integrator
About 30 hours a month
Drives your company-wide strategy and delivers on company-wide goals and initiatives. We call this role Chief of Staff, or Integrator if your company runs on EOS.
- Guidance for leaders in their seats
- Recruiting support: add-on, about $4,500 per role
- Team Building sessions: add-on
Best for: owners who need focus, alignment and a leadership team that follows through.
Fractional COO
60+ hours a month
Everything in Chief of Staff / Integrator, plus ownership of your operations function: the goals, processes and people that keep the practice running.
- Direct oversight of leaders in their seats
- Accountable for a quarterly goal
- Recruiting and hiring support included
- Team Building sessions and Working Genius included
Best for: owners who also need someone to run operations while the team grows into it. Operations ownership is time-boxed and reviewed each quarter, so your team ends up running it.
Need support, but not a fractional leader? Start with the problem you're solving.
Each of these works on its own, or alongside a fractional engagement.
“I have good people. I still need someone senior to think it through with.”
Advisory
A senior partner for the hard calls
- 1:1 sessions every other week or weekly
- DM/Slack access, plus tools, templates and metrics help as issues arise
- Starts with the Roadmap, so we begin from how your practice really runs
“My newest leaders don't know how to lead yet.”
Coaching
Build the leaders you've got
- 1:1 coaching for new leaders, practice owners, operations managers, clinical directors and practice managers
- DM/Slack support between sessions
- Single sessions or packages
“My team isn't aligned on where we're going or how we work together.”
Workshops
One shared picture of the goals and the work
- Annual or quarterly planning: shared goals, clear owners and a common definition of “done”
- Working Genius: see how each person works best and who should do what
- Annual planning includes pre-work with your leaders and a written plan
What changes when the weight is shared.
From co-owner bottleneck to a real leadership team
BeforeA team of 20 sent every decision through the co-owners, who lived and breathed the business and couldn't get out of reactive mode.
What we didBuilt a feedback loop to route decisions through ownership in the interim, and grew a leadership team through promotion, an outside full-time hire and fractional support.
AfterA six-figure revenue product was unblocked, and the owners got 10% of their working time back.
From "ask the CEO" to deciding at the right level
BeforeLeaders were in place, but everyone still turned to the owner for final decisions.
What we didSet decision-making rights, clarified accountabilities, and established meeting cadences for solving problems and resolving issues.
AfterLeaders act independently and escalate appropriately, so the CEO focuses on the work that best uses their skills.
Operators who help great practitioners learn to lead.
Left Hand Leadership was founded by Kaitlin Strand, who has spent decades in operations, most of them in high-growth start-ups scaling companies from about 25 to 150 people. She has led delivery and cross-functional teams and built the processes, rhythms and leadership habits that let growing organizations keep moving.
Our fractional leaders are experienced operators who bring the same approach to owners who are great at their craft and now need to lead a business. We're based in the Twin Cities of Minnesota and work with clients across the country.
Why “Left Hand”?
Kaitlin is left-handed, and she values the complementary relationship between the owner and the operator that makes a business hum.
The name also reclaims a familiar saying: “the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.” That is exactly the misalignment we exist to fix.
Let's talk about what you're carrying.
Tell us what's sitting on your shoulders today, and we'll talk through where to start: the Roadmap, a fractional leader, a coach for your new leaders, or a senior partner for the hard calls.
